ArtQuilts, Books & Patterns, Vintage Sewing Machines, Adventures...
This is one of my most recent quilts, commissioned by my step-daughter for her new office at UNC-Wilmington. School colors are teal, navy, and sand. The block, of course, is the traditional New York Beauty, which I've adapted to suit.
Made with vintage ties and silk dupioni for brilliantly saturated color. The mix-and-match tie tips make for an irresistible game. This quilt is now a pattern, for those who want to make their own.
"Slash Coat" won the national grand prize in the Sewing With Nancy Challenge sponsored by Oxmoor House, and was juried into the Quilt Expo wearable-art fashion show in Den Haag, Netherlands.
When I bought this machine, the decals were barely visible, it was so covered with brown gunk. After painstaking refurbishing, the "Tiffany" (a.k.a. "Gingerbread") decals are stunning and it sews beautifully.
